Full-time Home Learners - Roles and Responsibilities
The success and strength of this program is based in a strong partnership between the teachers and the family (parent and child), as well as a cooperative spirit between families that builds and nourishes a healthy, rich learning community. Parents, teachers and children each hold specific responsibilities in this partnership.
Teacher Responsibilities
- Meet and communicate with Full-time Home Learning families, including home visits, e-mail and phone communication;
- Give advice; help find resources for the child and assist in planning for learning.
- The teacher may also spend time with each child to work on goals, assess work and assess progress if requested.
Parent Responsibilities
- Provide registration documentation;
- Meet with and communicate with teacher regarding planning, progress and documentation.
- Complete required documentation and supply samples of work as outlined by the teacher;
- Agree to participation in FSA testing for all grade 4 and 7 students (see teacher for details and non-competitive approach to this government mandated test.)
- Ensure that invoices for learning materials and mentors are submitted as required so that direct payment can be made by the district from your Distance Education allotment.
Student Responsibilities
- Meet with teacher to discuss learning planning, ideas and interests;
- Engage in learning.
